Erev Shabbat Playlist: 3 Songs of Musical Ecstasy from Eretz Yisrael

Clean and cook for Shabbat with some positive sounds from the Holy Land! Open your ears and hearts to this playlist of 3 songs from Israeli artists that channel the spirit of Eretz Yisrael. Shabbat Shalom!

1. Artist: Diwan Ha Lev Project Song: I Heard Your Word – שמעתי שמעך

Every time I turn on this song, my ears start praying, and then my heart starts praying, and then my mind and sometimes my mouth join in. Prayers of love and yearning. According to a description I found on YouTube: “Diwan Project is an ensemble that performs traditional music and song in a free contemporary Israeli style, using original instruments from the Jewish Diaspora. Diwan Project is an encounter and not a performance.” Press play and raise up the sparks!

2. Artist: Binyamin Landau Song: We Were Exiled – שאנו

I hear in this music, the rocks and the trees, the wind and the water of the Holy Land. This song makes me yearn to live in Eretz Yisrael and I live in Jerusalem.

3. Artist:? Song: The Drunkards Song – נעימת השיכורים

OK, I’m not actually sure what band this is from but the melody know as נעימת השיכורים or ‘the Drunkards Song’ is most definitely a roots melody of Eretz Yisrael.
